My sister-in-law sent me a link that I have found very useful. It’s called Family Caregiving 101. Its tagline is: It’s not all up to you. The site offers many resources, including:
- elder care resources
- home care resources
- web site resources
- signs of struggle to watch for in caregivers who may be overwhelmed
- guidance for communicating with caregivers
- assessments to determine your readiness to become a caregiver
- tips for caregivers in communicating their needs
- resources for learning caregiving skills
- organizations that help caregivers get respite
- time management tips
- financial help and advice
And these links are just from their FAQ page! They also have a link to support groups and literature. If you are helping a disabled, ill, or dying family member or friend, this site is well worth the time.
