None of us get enough naps. Naps are essential for mental health. Naps are productive — contrary to what we’ve been taught. Our culture promotes tension and crabbiness. Part of this is the severe lack of naps. Declare your home, or wherever you are, as a free nap zone.

Yesterday I took a four-hour nap. Today I worked from 8:30-1:30, came home, and dove into bed. I awoke refreshed three hours later, ready to attend dinner with friends and engage in the delightful conversations for which I’m famous. *koff* Well, okay. At the very least I’m not crabby.
And I also managed to get Tuesday off as well, since I’ve racked up a bit of comp time, so I’ll get my three-day weekend starting tomorrow. Yum.

Good for you! Three-day-weekends are super! I don’t get one this weekend, but I made one last weekend.
Oh, have a wonderful weekend, Kathryn. You certainly deserve it. And naps are wonderful, aren’t they? I love my couch, and my little patchwork blanket. An hour does me just nicely. Enjoy your extra day.
I love naps, but tend to do better with short ones.
However, short or long, I’m all for the free nap zone.
I remember naps. Seems the last one I took was about 30 years ago. There is always so much to do, so many people tugging for this or that… But maybe I can find the time soon to try a mid-day nap. Sounds good for one of these cold wintry afternoons.
Hello, Kathryn! Sorry I’ve been absent from your blog for so long…we were without a computer for a month…but I’ve just caught up on all of the posts I missed. Your job sounds very rewarding–I hope you’re enjoying it even with the occasional weekend hours involved. Glad to hear you’re catching up on some sleep. Your post about your struggles with weight and body image was very moving. And I must tell you that I fell by the AW wayside while I was offline, but I’ve caught up my AW blog a bit and at Kat’s suggestion will just try to pick up with the group where they are now. Have you finished “The Orchid Thief?” I loved that book. Hope you’re well.
I’m also for naps, but usually mine only last about 45 minutes.
My cat, “Terrorist,” usually lays on my stomach when I am cat-napping. She also naps.
