Below is a photo I took of myself in summer 2002. Below that is a drawing I made from it. It’s been years since I used real drawing pencils, and probably as many years since I actually tried to draw. I’m fairly pleased with the outcome (it actually resembles me!), except that I failed to catch the light within my eyes. I look impersonal. And I look slightly Siamese-cat (i.e., cross-eyed). I don’t know why when I make anything that isn’t a collage I feel timorous, as if I need to apologize for daring to make art and as if I should explain myself. But I figure as long as I continue to create, eventually I may stop prefacing my work this way.

Love it!
Thanks, Euan. Glad to hear from you too! 🙂
It’s wonderful, Kathryn … no need for disclaimers (… though it’s also very easy for me to go there with my own stuff, too).
I think the eyes are very expressive, and you did a great job with the hair, also. Good work.
this is great kathryn! i also love the eyes.

I’ve been planning on doing one for AEM but it looks like you beat me to the punch!
ohmygod…is there some sort of flu going around that causes one to preface their non-collage artwork with disclaimers?
Aaaachoo. I think I have it too.
(methinks the antidote is making more art…) 😉
