I made bread tonight. It feels like winter.

Succumbed
I called Commuknity just now to see if they carry Noro Kureyon. Of course they do. I spoke with Tom (one of the owners) about what I want to make and that my stash is really random. That’s all it took.
I’m going to get some more yarn this morning to make the three-panel bag.
You knew this was coming. Right? I’m a Yarn Harlot in the making.
Antsy
So I’ve got several small projects going on. I’m still making scarves, because the yarn in my stash was purchased with the intention of making them (not enough to do something bigger). I have enough stash and oddball yarn that I feel I should not purchase more yarn. At all.
But I waaaaaaannnnaaaaaa!
Well, what I want is to purchase yarn with intention. For instance, I’d love to make a Booga bag. Or a three-panel Noro felted bag. Or a sweater from the Big Girl Knits book. And I don’t want to rummage through what I’ve got to see if I can come up with enough.
But I feel I can’t, because I have some perfectly unused balls and skeins (in several cases one each) of Bouton d’Or, Claudia, Rowan Cashsoft, Crystal Palace Merino, and Noro Cash Iroha, and some random Cascade 220 and mohair. I suppose I could give these away, but these single skeins/balls represent real money — in some cases $11 each.
I’m drooling as I find free patterns. I don’t knit fast enough! Must. Exercise. Self. Control.
Another Small Knit
First Prayer Shawl
Last Monday I started this from random yarns (Rowan Cashsoft, Cascade 220, Crystal Palace Whisper, Southwest Trading Co. Karaoke, Crystal Palace Merino Stripes, Rowan Big Wool, Rowan Kidsilk Haze). I used a size 13 circular needle. It’s not perfect, but I’m pleased. I think I’d prefer to knit a triangular shawl for my own use; I like the way they drape across my back and arms better.

Stocking Up
Yesterday I went into Commuknity ostensibly to pick up my receipt for the Stitch n’ Pitch event, but of course I wanted to see my knitting sisters and fondle some of the wares. To my delight Nathania and Chloe were there (and I was sad not to see Emy this time). And you know I couldn’t make it out of the store without indulging myself, right? The book is a great resource (if I ever get the patience to knit something bigger than scarf), and the yarn and one set of needles are dedicated to trying my hand at knitting the Little Flowers shawl. The other set of needles were selected, um, just because. You never know when you might need a size 15 36-inch circular needle!
Quickie Scarf
The Ball (Of Yarn) Is Rolling
I managed to finish the blue scarf. I’ll take a photo when it’s light out. I also started another quick scarf for the Dulaan project this weekend. We had guests, and I took it along in the car to knit as we toured the Bay Area. And then I decided to start a shawl from random skeins of yarn I have on hand — various weights, textures, and colors. I knitted yesterday for many hours, and it felt so good. Photos coming at some point.
I got an email from Commuknity announcing an event in July which I managed to sign up for just in time (only two spots left). It’s called Stitch n’ Pitch — a trip to a Giants game with other knitters. We’ll sit in a special section to watch the game as we knit. We’ll get a Stitch ‘n’ Pitch tote bag, a limited edition Giants pattern, and an orange ball of yarn too! I’ve missed going to the store and look forward to seeing some of my knitting sisters again.
My job consumes my life, but I refuse to let it have all.
