Very Briefly

While the hospital has wireless access, it blocks certain sites, and one of them is Flickr. So until we get home, we are unable to upload photos or approve contacts. I promise to upload asap and will post when they are up.

We likely won’t be going home until Wednesday the 12th. I was in labor for 22 hours, but dilation did not progress well and Bean’s head wasn’t fitting in the birth canal. I ended up with a C-section shortly after midnight on the 8th. This experience was the hardest physical and emotional test of my life up to this point. Someday maybe I’ll want to recount the details, but not anytime soon.

I’m beyond exhausted and in some pain. Husband is wiped out too.

Bean is gorgeous and sweet. She makes cooing sounds and little chirps. She loves to nurse and within an hour after birth was at my breast (while I was in the recovery room).

Thank you for all the well wishes and love. We are in awe of our daughter!

Six weeks recovery. Take care, don’t lift a thing, and NO driving.

And sleep – lots and lots of sleep. Get someone in to help you as much as possible, and let hubby do everything for a bit. Well, you feed the baby. But not much else…

    SLEEP!!!

This sounds SO familiar (28 hours of labor, Abby’s head was “sunny side up” and I had a section, too)! Definitely take care of yourself. I’m so glad that your hubby will have time off to be able to help you, especially with all those stairs and such to contend with. Best advise…get up and start walking as soon as possible. It really facilitates healing. Hope you start feeling better soon! 🙂

    Woooooohoooooo!!!!!!

    And she’s nursing, too! Hooooray!

I was just talking to a friend at work on Friday who couldn’t nurse because her baby just couldn’t figure out how. Some babies know how, some don’t. Seems like the most natural, innate skill in the world, but some infants just can’t or won’t.

    Gosh, I’m smiling.

I can’t wait to see a picture of your beautiful baby girl.

(Does your hospital post pictures of newborns on its website?)

I am so impressed with you for posting so soon, wow!

I’m so excited to see her; we hope to stop by this afternoon if y’all are feeling up to receiving visitors. If so, is there anything you need us to bring or are craving? Sounds like you deserve a little nurturing. What an experience.

As far as helping with your recovery, please know that whenever you (and/or hubbie) need a break, I would be happy to babysit, or come over and sit with you. 🙂

I love babies and can’t wait to hold her!

Congratulations to the Petro-Harper family and welcome, Claire. I’m sorry it ended up being so hard for you, Kathryn, but fortunately, childbirth is one of those experiences that the human mind dulls over time. Or so I’m told. Otherwise no one would ever have more than one baby.

I’m looking forward to seeing photos of your beauty.

My goodness!!! Look what happens when you miss a day or two or three of checking your favorite blogs!

Claire is an absolutely gorgeous name. It rolls off the tongue so tenderly…. and so pretty and so delicate. Congratulations! So many, many congratulations to you and your husband. Treasure every single moment!!!

    Yay !!!!
