Sweet Sleep

Sleep eludes me this week. And this is a week when I need to go to San Francisco four of the five days, and I have three projects to lead on the weekend. Oh please, Mr. Sandman, I really need your magic.

As the mind takes a focus on tasks, the mental energy also triggers the releases in the hormone chain in the body which gets itself ready for the activities, and this normally includes increases in heart rate and blood pressure. Blood pressure increases counteract sleep needs, and indeed, when you are ready to wake up in the morning, it is accompanied by a blood pressure increase. So, what you experience with several work-related tasks looming, is to be expected. When your job ends, this problem will go away.
