Illustration Friday: Sticky

illustration friday: sticky

5×7 inch canvas board with acrylic paint and collage

I haven’t done anything for Illustration Friday in several months. Last night I pondered the theme and went to bed with a glimmer of an idea: a web. When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was go into my art room and begin work. The web is made out of plastic tinsel. I used acrylic “jewels,” a piece of broken mirror, and holographic stickers. The collage is a nod to the web of existence. Many constructs get stuck in it: the eye/I in the mirror, dreams (reach for the stars), our yearning for possessions (e.g., jewels), and even Time.

Love the spider web! Sometimes the best ideas come just as you wake. Well at least for me they do! Thank you for the comments. And now that you mention it that background of mine looks like it was ripped off of a Maurice illustration! I do have to admit that Dr. Seuss and Maurice were big influences on me when I was growing up.I learned to read and draw from their books.Hope to see more of your work on IF!
