Okay, folks. You ever wonder why I moved away from Syracuse, my hometown? Here’s one reason: 123 inches of snow this season. That’s 10.5 feet, people! Syracuse wins the Golden Snowball award this year and almost every year. In March 1993, there was a blizzard which broke the records for all areas affected by it. After the 1993-1994 winter season, when we received 192.1 inches of snow (that’s 16 feet!), I decided to head to a warmer climate. I went to the opposite extreme and moved to Austin, Texas.
Thanks to my Mom for emailing the news to me. You have to be made of sturdy stuff if you live in Syracuse.

Stumbled on to your blog when doing a blog search on Syracuse. An attractive blog! The pics are great! I live in Syracuse, and yes, the winters can be a pain, but it does make the turn to spring that much sweeter.
Welcome, Kenneth! I’m always amazed at what searches will bring up. Syracuse was my hometown, and I lasted 31 years there. I miss the slower pace, the small towns. And yes, I even miss the seasons; they are so very distinct in upstate NY. The photo at the top of the blog is one I took at Beaver Lake Nature Center last September, by the way.
The easiest way to live with the aforementioned weather is to ignore weather, in general!..Another option is to convince yourself, as have those who operate ski resorts, that large snowfalls are beautiful, are good! If one is compelled to carry on transportation events and conform to preset schedules, then of course, snow will delay those. Just allow more time and have a pleasant music CD with you in the car….
