Art Every Day Month – Day 30

It’s hard to believe November is ending. It’s amazing to me that I’ve created art everyday for 30 days, and even created a few extra crafts beyond! I am ready for a rest now. I feel I’ve done really good work, broken some internal barriers, and created momentum to make art. I had the luxury of time to delve into things that were new to me. I cannot imagine doing this while working full-time and attending school as Kat does. Doing AEM introduced me to some other talented, creative, and delightful artists. It’s created another facet of friendship in my life. Thank you, all, for being my inspiration. Below is my last contribution for the month.

art everyday month - day 30 - seeing through to the heart of the matter

“Seeing Into the Heart of the Matter,” 11″ x 14″ Bristol vellum with acrylic paint and collage

What’s really eerie and cool is that the image in the center, which looks kind of like an eye, is really an image of a dark galaxy called Virgo H121. From Discover:

Virgo H121 is a galaxy trapped in perpetual darkness. In fact, it confounds all understanding of what a galaxy is. Galaxies are supposed to have stars, but this one has none. Almost by definition, galaxies are supposed to be visible objects, but this one can be seen only by radio-wave detectors.

And there you have it.
