Rain is pouring, pouring, pouring. Winds are blowing and gusting. It’s a good day for snuggling and soup. Or for practicing grabbing and manipulating things.

Did you sing to her?
“It’s raining, it’s pouring,
the old man is snoring.
Bumped his head so he went
to bed and didn’t wake up
til morning.”
or:
“The itsy bitsy spider
climbed up the waterspout.
Down came the rain
and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried
up all the rain and the itsy
bitsy spider climbed up
the spout again.”
If I had a baby, I’d probably sing to it all night and day.
Indeed, I do sing every day, several times a day. The Itsy Bitsy Spider is a staple. I’ve got 4 CDs produced by Disney that have tons of kid’s songs and old folk songs (some of which are kind of grim — ever listen to the lyrics of Clementine?). I pick the ones I like the most and can sing the best and regale her with concerts. 🙂

as long as you’re the one making soup and Claire is the one grabbing and manipulating . . .
