I loathe the expression “What makes him tick.” It is the American mind, looking for simple and singular solution, that uses the foolish expression. A person not only ticks, he also chimes and strikes the hour, falls and breaks and has to be put together again, and sometimes stops like an electric clock in a thunderstorm.
–James Thurber

There is so much more to people than is apparent. Seems the modern view is to pigeonhole someone as quickly as possible and move on. We even do it to ourselves, I think sometimes. Thus the oft-heard phrase, “I’m the kind of person who . . .” Well, people don’t come in “kinds” in my opinion, but if someone wants to squeeze into that bird roost, well, that’s a choice they can make. Me, I’m not the kind of person who likes chocolate; I do like chocolate.
Continued good wishes and thoughts for you and your baby-to-be.
This quote by Thurber shows how good comic writers are at heart, poets!
