(I accidentally erased this once, so now I have to put it back. It all had to do with ‘cheery’.)

That’s sad! Lisa and I are wondering why you’re lonesome.

… (lisa here) … I don’t think you’re lonesome; Chad does. I think it’s just a picture of the moon and a moon-themed poem. There are not a lot of happy-go-luck-let’s-hold-hands-and-be-cheery moon poems out there.

… (chad again) … She’s just asking me to go find a “happy-go-luck-let’s-hold-hands-and-be-cheery moon poem”, isn’t she?

Chad and Lisa, I’m not lonesome. As I searched for moon quotes, many of them struck me as frilly and ornate, because of the style of the poet. Sandburg is one of my favorite poets. And the line resonated in me, that yes, in the dark of night, this silver-white beauty is a companion.

The moon has always been my one true friend.

    Along with the ocean,

    the night,

    the rain,

    and the wind.

And the owl that calls through the long cold winter night.

And the snow that falls and falls, never-
    ending.
