Sometimes I post for myself alone. Sometimes I write here as a means of talking to myself: Young lady, get moving right now!
I am resisting cleaning the house today. It really needs it. I’m hosting a HOBA project here tonight. It doesn’t even need to be a thorough cleaning. And as soon as I do it I’ll feel better and then I can move on to more fun things.
But noooo, instead I’ve surfed blogs and made coffee and eaten and called my father. (We had an excellent visit.)

Tomorrow I’m taking a class to learn how to knit in the round on circular and double-pointed needles. I’ll be making a hat. The hats I currently make are simple rectangles with the top pulled tight and a seam. Circular knitting is a way of making a seamless item. I feel ready to learn more. Last night I cast on a shawl (it’s triangular!) and I feel very proud of my progress so far.
And there’s art to make… I’m salivating over what others are making and getting ideas. I encourage you to visit a few other people making art everyday this month. There is, of course, the originator of this project: Kat. And then there is Karen, a mixed media artist. And Lia, who makes amazing vintage collages. Ascender does everything, and she includes the source of inspiration for each piece — a poem or text. Melba does amazing work with art journaling. If you’re interested in Artist Trading Cards, see what Belinda works on. Janet crochets and does watercolor (and anything with paper). Mia is working on an altered book tarot project. Susan makes whimsical drawings. Patry, a novelist, dove right in to play with visual art. Nancy alters books and makes mixed media art. Suzie makes collages, and Tina is challenging herself to overcome fear of collage. Windyangel plays with a variety of styles and techniques, as do Tammy and Tinker. These are just some of the folks participating in AEM. Take a gander and be inspired!

I have now officially managed to avoid my task for several hours. No more anything until the house is, at the very least, vacuumed.

ahhh – thanks so much for the mention.
I do this too though; sometimes get out of my loop of creating and need to take time to clean the palette; you know… shake it off; then get back in there and make a new kind of glorious mess! Wishing I could knit as I relax; but alas — I have two left thumbs!
I try not to let myself get caught up in the surfing, but it is so tempting! It is different from actually posting or visiting with blog friends. Sometimes I am not even aware of the time or what i am looking at when i am surfing.
Have fun knitting!
so kind of you to mention what others are making in the group. I also identified with the surfing when I’m kinda avoiding a task or just because….but I do get so much energy and inspiration from other artists and their sharing. It’s also so much fun to see what people are making and doing in there homes. blogging is still so amazing to me. the biggest show and tell on earth, in a touch of a button!
Thank you so much for the mention! I laughed when you said I ‘do’ collages, as those were my first attempts since my schooldays, and I am just finding my way back into art via all the wonderful challenges & groups like AEM that are to be found whilst spending far too long on the computer and sitting in inches of dust! Well done you, for getting the housework done! Now you’ve guilted me into getting off the computer and cleaning something, but all I want to do is play! 😉 Ah well, my art for today will have to be a picture of something I’ve cleaned! LoL!
Have a great day 🙂
