On a walk yesterday evening I encountered a hummingbird dashing around me. At one point it stopped and actually rested for several minutes on a branch in a garden. I paused an contemplated her before she flew off. A cat at the window of a house avidly watched her as well. I went home and found a photo and drew a hummingbird. I then drew a photo of a birdhouse I saw at a community garden. I’m thankful for these pockets of nature and beauty here.
I prepped pages of my journal by randomly covering pages with marker or watercolor. This makes it a fun challenge to figure out what to do, whether to draw, collage, etc. This was an interesting exercise in trying to get angles and perspective correct. The hammock was fun to draw. It’s an okay result for a first effort.
