Last November I drew a number of things for Art Everyday Month, but the habit of drawing didn’t develop. One reason is that I had an idea that drawing daily meant having a special subject to turn into “art,” and that it required more elaborate drawing tools than I normally have laying about. I do own oil pastels, colored pencils, and drawing pencils of varying hardness and softness, but dragging them out deterred me. Using a pen didn’t occur to me — what if I made a mistake?
But I decided to take Danny Gregory up on his challenge to use a pen. I sketched my desk at work. I drew last night as we waited for a table at the Fish Market (and my pen was crappy!). I drew just before bed. I drew again this morning. What I’m posting below is the result of this morning’s work. I’m amazed at what I can draw by simply following his two suggestions: slow down and draw what you see.

OH HOW TOUCHING! And so well done!
