All People Deserve It

I believe that the highest quality of life is full of art and creative expression and that all people deserve it. I believe in a broad definition of what art is and who artists are: Barbers, cooks, auto detailers, janitors and gardeners have as much right to claims of artistry as designers, architects, painters and sculptors. Every day, our streets and school buses become art galleries in the form of perfectly spiked hair, zigzagging cornrows and dizzying shoelace artistry.

Love this quote – I once had a friend who could drive through New York traffic so smoothly that I told people she was an artist – of course I still think simply making it through any traffic is an art 🙂

That’s wonderful. And don’t forget the nail art. I’m always amazed at some of the intricate designs I’ve seen in spaces approximately measuring 1″x1/2″. The women who have this done can stop typing, or sorting mail, or taking messages or whatever and gaze upon beauty literally at their fingertips.
