Self-Portrait Tuesday: All of Me Week 2

I have chin of stature, an assertive chin. I’m not fond of how pointy it is at some angles, but it is what it is. And according to my husband, it serves as a crucial barometer of our relationship. Over the years he has been able to determine the level of my pissed-offed-ness (not a word until just now) by carefully observing the position of my chin. Whenever I get irritated with him, he’ll say, “Oh, there’s the chin!” Even if I’ve said nothing, apparently my chin communicates for me. Or he’ll say, “I’ve got Chin Level One!” Chin Level One is a slight setting of the jaw (according to him), while Chin Level Two is major chin action. Level Two is as though my chin is set on coasters and just rolls right out. Often times his noting my Chin Stage makes me laugh and defuses the moment. Sometimes I wonder what it is my face is doing, because it doesn’t feel to me as though my face or chin shifts. Apparently, though, it does. The man says he is the World’s Reigning Expert On Kathryn. After six years, I suppose he’s earned the title.

Never knew much about chinology. Is there a Chin Level 3 that clears the room of carbon-based life forms? With Roomie, it’s the twirling of the hair. The faster and more vigorously she twirls it on her fingers, the more pissed-off she is. Difference is that mentioning it doesn’t defuse the situation but seems to fuel it.

What a lovely photo of you, Kathryn. That’s cute that your hubby can read your emotions through your body language–specifically your chin. I love the word pissed-offed-ness. I hope you get credit for this one in the new Websters.

Winston… we suspect there is indeed a Chin Level 3, but it remains hypothetical because if it did get to that point, no one would remain to tell about it. 😉

And since it’s still the 14th here in the “far east”, Happy Heart Day to you and husband!

Your little outline of “Chin-ology” gave me my small laugh for this day 😉

Whether it’s with a smile, a tear, in agreement with you or not, thanks for being here for us to stop and visit. I never come away empty!

Happy Valentine’s Day. Mine started as I arrived here at the airport after a 26 hour flight from Frankfurt. I met nine of our cousins for the first time, and many more of our old cousins/friends. Especially enjoyable was the Saturday night Faschingsfest at Rebgeshain, our great-grandmother’s birthplace, where at least half of the people in the audience were our cousins! And, half of the performances on-stage were by our cousins, too.

Today I must bury Pat’s pet horse, who died while I was away, during the -40 degree temperature spell, at the age of 25 years…he was born here on our place and will always rest here. A true friend and faithful pet. Requiescant in pace.

    Bill
