Art Every Day Month – Day 12

I tried oil pastels for the first time. Wow! They’re malleable. It almost feels like working with clay or Femo. I enjoyed it. This still life is based on a photo here.

I like this! Don’t you just love the yumminess of oil pastells? I love to use them, especially when I need to “push things around”. *grins*. The colors in this remind me of California. jackie

Hi Kathryn! I bet you would have a lot of fun with your oil pastels if you applied a brush with some paint thinner (turpenoid is good) to a drawing. A lot of people don’t know they can be used that way.

    I miss you.

    Kathryn:

You are full of mindful activities! I used to paint with acrylics, and loved it. Pastels are quite neat, and like Jacqueline says you can do a few tricks with them that are quite fun. I always loved coloring with crayons, and pastels are just such wonderful crayons! : ) That’s a very nice inside of that bowl with the peaches. thanks!

I’m someone who used to think of myself as an artist until I plunged head long into an “appropriate” career that has never quite suited me. Thanks so much for motivating me to sit down with my creative energy this month and CREATE! It’s high time for me to stop the excuses and procrastination…Thanks also for tending so lovingly to your blog – I really enjoy it!
