The Kama Sutra of Kindness: Position No. 2 should I greet you
as if
we had merely eaten
together one night
when the white birches
dripped wet
and lightning etched
black trees on your walls?it is not love
I am askinglove comes from years
of breathing
skin to skin
tangled in each other’s dreams
until each night
weaves another thread
in the same web
of blood and sleepand I have only
passed through you quickly
like lightand you have only
surrounded me suddenly
like flamethe lake is cold
the snows are sudden
the wild cherry bends
and winter’s a burdenin your hand I feel
spring burn in the bud.–Mary Mackey

You write– “love comes from years of breathing skin to skin.”
Do you think that applies to cats too? My cat (“the Terrorist”) sleeps up against my leg every night.
Terrorist is the co-pilot in my dreams, and also protects me from the golliwogs. We need each other.
🙂
Regards–
Pat
I heartily agree that this applies to cats. They are, in my opinion, like furry guardian angels. 🙂
I also think of Terrorist as “co-pilot of my dreams.” I suspect he is sort of the tail-gunner keeping me safe as I sail the strange seas of my dreams — never quite alone. Thanks to her–
