Fur and Purr

A reader, Pat, asked if the phrase “love comes from years/of breathing/skin to skin” (from the poem in the last post) might also apply to cats. I told him I thought so. And then this SARK quote sprang to mind.

Cats Are Angels with Fur

Surrender, You are now entering the tunnel of Cat love.
It’s soft, it’s Warm, it’s Cat-A-Tonic.
Some little known Cat Secrets:
Cats are polka dotted under their fur.
Cats love lemonade on a warm day.
Cat refuse to play scrabble.
Cats will pay rent if you let them.
Cats have not nine lives, but two: Theirs, then Yours.
Some cats make payoffs to flea gangs.
C.A.T. stands for Clever Anatomical Tricks.
Cats know how to cozy up.
Cats sleep circular.
Cats invented naps.
Kiss your cat.
A fur ball is not a toy.
ADOPT A CAT. It will take over your life.

–Written by SARK

We all need protection from Things That Go Bump In The Night, or In Our Dreams. Cats, for me, are IT.

I have come to your page through recommended blogs on a room of my own and tamarike and then onwards.

My cat has been diagnosed with diabetes and I’m looking to go the alternative route, diet-related managment of the diabetes, rather than medication.

If you or anyone you know has a similar experience and could share their experience with me I’d love to hear from them.

The can contact me – leave a comment on my site http://www.ainelivia.typepad.com or email me from their

    Many thanks

Kathryn– On reflection, I suppose the poem should read “skin to fur” when about one’s cat.

Last night late I was awakened by an unwanted phone call. Imagine my dismay when the Terrorist was not on the bed! So I went around the house looking for her. She finally appeared, yawning and stretching. I never did learn exactly where she had been.

This morning Terrorist woke me up at 6:10 by walking up and down on my ribs, perching on my collarbone and touching noses (sneeze!), and going “dig-dig-dig” on the blankets. The Terrorist always plays to my better self — the one that should be up early facing the world.

As for the other reader’s comment — that happiness is two bluebirds building a nest in the yard. Terrorist could really relate to that! Cats consider birds “the food that sings.”

I always brush Terrorist 200 strokes a day– 100 with the wire side, and 100 with the bristle side. Just like the models in the Breck commercials!

Have a great week Kathryn. And all the readers!

    Pat (and Terrorist)
