Home Again

Sweet is the hour that brings us home,
Where all will spring to meet us;
Where hands are striving, as we come,
To be the first to greet us.

–Eliza Cook, “The Welcome Back”

We are home at last. The striving hands were actually paws, as our two cats joyously received us. Our neighbor who watched them also left small tokens of kindness. We are much relieved to be among what is familiar as we continue to cope with our grief.

    Welcome home, dear. And I know this is vastly belated, but I have been thinking about you. I’m so sorry. Please, if there’s anything I can do . . . just call.
