So today I tried an idea I saw at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frugalfamilyfunblog.com\/\">Frugal Family Fun<\/a>. I may have had more fun making them than Bean did playing with them, but they&#8217;ll be around awhile for those moments of boredom when a quick distraction will do.<\/p>\n<div class=\"photopost\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mindfulone\/4869448011\/\" title=\"homemade mess-free paint by Mindful One, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4120\/4869448011_5b4e7c3d2b.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" alt=\"homemade mess-free paint\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I took file folder and cut out a 5&#8243; by 7&#8243; window. Then I decorated them with markers. Then I took a gallon-size <em>heavy duty<\/em> zip-top bag and put in the following:<\/p>\n<p>1\/3 cup of mineral oil<br \/>\n1\/3 cup of color A<br \/>\n1\/3 cup of color B<br \/>\nA dash of glitter<\/p>\n<p>Gently press the bag so all the air is pressed out and seal. With packing tape, seal the zip-top. Then I taped the bags inside the file folders and taped the folders shut. If I&#8217;d had quart-size bags it might have been a bit easier &#8212; in that case I&#8217;d have used 1\/4 cup of each item.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We do a fair amount of painting around Chez Harper, but once in awhile I want a less messy activity.
