I learned to knit on five double-pointed needles in the round, to make ribbing, a heal flap, to turn the heel, to make a gusset, and to close the toe with the Kitchener stitch (makes for an entirely seamless sock). It took me 3 hours and 45 minutes, and I was so proud of myself at the end. This is a big jump from knitting rectangles. I&#8217;ll use this as  an ornament. Now that I have the basics, I can make larger socks. I can see how it would become addicting.
