Art Every Day Month – Day 8

I started this ATC on a bright green background and used tissue paper to collage. I got stuck along the way, feeling uninspired. I was thinking of fall colors in New York state, and also of how incredibly green and rural it is, and how easily lost one can get in some of these places. Where I live now is dense, urban, and covers a valley floor mostly with concrete. So this ended up being a piece reflecting my own uncertainty in the creative process and my longing for sparsely populated places.

I like the thought process behind this. Love the contrast in the colours.
Never been to New York, but I felt like there was too much concrete when I lived in Toronto, Canada.

I find it amusing that I also used tissue paper in my collage of the day… and it was the first time I ever used tissue in collaging (still such a newbie!)

Love the inclusion of the map.

Love the process. Makes me realize I need to get out my tissue paper and have it around. Love the results. I also find making ATCs when I am stuck a great way to get unstuck.

    This is great.
I was lost in New England one year. 🙂
It was wonderful because of the colors

This is fabulous! Do you have a link to more ATC’s? I am also in NYS – Rochester. I like most about your ATC is the tissue paper, great idea!

P.S. thanks for the blog love!

It is quite amazing to see the depth of this painting being directed into our own being in geography. I like how you have projected the urban with the natural and how that is conveyed through your visible art. 🙂 Beautiful.

Wow… really great job on the ATC, wonderful use of color and contrast! (Is it just regular tissue paper or so-called “art” tissue?)

As far as the thought process, I understand how you’re feeling, having lived in the middle of a big city until last December — but living in sparsely populated spots has its drawbacks, too. 🙁 Still, great job of conveying the “lost” amid concrete feeling!

This is so interesting, even before I read your explanation. The colors are striking!

What a great idea. I do like the map background with seasonal colors. It’s eye catching. Your reflective thoughts frame the whole concept beautifully.
