Photo Op

A couple new photos of Princess Pixie are up at Flickr. One features a grin!

Yesterday at the doctor she weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces; two weeks ago she was 7 pounds, 15 ounces. She’s still pretty small (in the 32nd percentile). But she is gaining, and that’s all that matters.

Today, she devoured 4.5 ounces at her 9:15 a.m. meal — the biggest amount yet. Maybe she’s revving up for a growth spurt? Some days she snacks, other days she’s ravenous. That meal was so big she is still asleep over three hours later.

Someone’s gotta be below the line, and it’s not like she’s being GRADED on this or anything. 😉

See then, this is the secret revealed: baby sleep is a function of the belly. The more she can eat at one meal, the longer she will sleep in between. It’s normal for newborns to wake every 1.5-2 hrs. to eat. Can you begin to see that by the 3-month mark, how her sleep patterns will extend into the sane range?

Yay, you got three hours of your own. I hope you were able to rest or do things you otherwise can’t get to. Her smile is precious!

    She’s a skinny little monkey, isn’t she?

This is the first time I’ve looked at her pictures.

The black and white photo and the one that precedes it are simply amazing.

But then, she’s simply amazing, no?

Oh, and hey, your husband is cute. (shhhhh—don’t tell him!) I like when a couple looks like a couple. The two of you look like a couple.

My gosh, I can’t get over her. Her skinny little legs.

You make me almost want all of that. Almost.

Thanks for being so generous and sharing her with us.

Methinks I jinxed myself by writing this post, because the rest of the day Claire was WIDE AWAKE and to the point of overtired by the evening. Today she is equally wide awake. She’s wanting to play more and longer, and it’s great fun. Except when I want something for myself and realize that I’m not the priority anymore.

She is amazing, indeed. And yep, a skinny little monkey. We think she has chicken legs. No idea where the thinness comes from, as we certainly aren’t! (Though I was a tiny baby, only 5 lbs., 11 oz. when born, and was tiny for years.)

And I agree with you, L, about Husband! I rather like him.

Michael, thanks for stopping by. I’ll check out your blogs. 🙂
