I began working on another piece but realized it would take more than a day to finish. So I dabbled with dye-based ink and a brayer, and then I rummaged around for miscellaneous bits that caught my eye.

No more sitting at the kids’ table!

This is my first sock! I’m really proud of it. I got a little teary when I was done; I was so pleased with my accomplishment. Now I can make regular socks (this one I’ll use as an ornament). It was knit on size 6 needles.

At 6 a.m. this morning in Times Square, a line of shoppers several hundred deep burst through the doors of Toys “R” Us and promptly formed a second, equally long line to buy the season’s must-have product: T.M.X. Elmo.

This statue is 4″ tall and made from polymer clay with acrylic paint and embellishment. I really enjoyed making this. Several hours just disappeared into pure pleasure.

The other day I was awakened by a gathering of crows. I like the cacophany they make. They’re social birds. This drawing was inspired by this amazing photo, which is just one among many stellar shots (of crows and more).

I’m a knitting teenager now. I’ve learned to knit a hat in the round! (Next week I’ll learn sock knitting and then I’ll almost be grown up.)
